Florida is the southernmost state on the Eastern seaboard, and the third-most populated state in the USA. The state is known for its vacation destinations; 1200 miles of coastline full of beautiful beaches on both coasts; some of the most famous theme parks in the world; and eleven national parks! Panhandle to Peninsula

Where will you go? There's so much to see in Florida, from the Panhandle in the north, stretching out between Alabama and the Gulf of Mexico, all the way down to Key West on the southern tip of the state.

Most of this sunny state is located on a peninsula, bordered on its west coast by the Gulf of Mexico, and on the east by the Atlantic Ocean. Orlando, home to a dozen theme parks, is close to the middle of the state. It's near the Ocala National Forest, a lush destination filled with rivers, lakes, beautiful plants, and animals like manatees. Miami, on the southeastern coast of the peninsula, is the state's second most populated city, famous for its stunning beaches, high-end shopping, and vibrant nightlife. Nearby, Everglades National Park covers the southern tip of Florida.

Four-Wheeling Fun

The Florida Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles publishes important information about off-road and all-terrain vehicles, including safety rules, legal requirements, and more. Whenever you’re riding somewhere new, the best way to prepare is to check the current rules and requirements – and always bring your driver’s license, proof of registration and insurance for your tow vehicle, trailer, and ATVs. 

Over 30% of Florida is covered by wetlands, and mudding is a popular pastime -- with ATVs, UTVs, or even Jeeps and four-by-fours! If you prefer not to get muddy, that's okay. Florida has sandy, grassy, and hard-packed trails, too. You'll find ATV and four-wheeling parks throughout the state, plus trail systems that let you explore some of Florida's state forests and unique habitats.

• Lazy Springs Recreation Park - Looking for fun for the whole family? Check out Lazy Springs in Lehigh Springs. This 375+ - acre destination offers off-roading, mudding, swimming, fishing, and boating -- plus you can camp on site!    
• Bone Valley ATV Park - Outside the Tampa metro area, Bone Valley is an ATV park owned and operated by Polk County. Explore 200+ acres and 15 trails of varying difficulty levels

OHV Trail Systems

Off-highway vehicle, ATV, side by side - whatever you call your rig, don't miss riding in some of Florida's most special parks and preserves. Find details and permits online. 

• Ocala National Forest - Explore sandy trails, forest roads, and muddy crossings. Enjoy trails like Longleaf, which rolls over some of the tallest hills in the national forest, connecting with other trails in the system.
• Clear Creek OHV Riding Area - With 52 miles of trails to explore and campsites available, the Clear Creek OHV trails are part of the Blackwater River State Forest in Milton -- about half an hour north of Pensacola. 
• Big Cypress National Preserve - Neighbor to the Everglades, home to the Florida panther, and stretching over 700,000 acres, this subtropical preserve has trails designed to let you explore remote areas by ATV. 
• Croom Motorcycle Area - Don't be fooled by the name; ATVs are welcome, too (as long as they are not wider than 55"). This remote off-roading destination is located between the Tampa and Ocala metro areas.
